5 Cutest Cat Cafés from Around the World
Move over, hipster haunts. There’s a new coffee shop in town. I’ll give you a hint: it’s cuter, furrier and purrs more than your average café. It’s also our new favourite trend: cat cafés. Cities around the world have warmed to the concept, making it the most adorable worldwide phenomenon yet. Here, we’ve rounded up our 5 favourite cat cafés from around the world.

Japan: Temari no Ouchi
It’s no surprise that cat cafés are popular in Japan, but did you know that Tokyo is home to at least 39 cat cafés? Temari no Ouchi takes the cake, though, with its fairy-tale forest grotto home to 17 cats, including some exotic and unusual breeds like Scottish Fold and Munchkin.
Best features: An extensive menu of coffees, teas, beer and cocktails as well as meals, snacks, desserts, and free wifi!

Austria: Café Neko
Legend has it that Austria’s first cat café opened in Vienna in 1912, and was frequented by Lenin during his exile. A century later (including 3 years of fighting rigid health regulations), this cuddly pastime has been resurrected at the stylish Café Neko in Vienna.
Best features: Elegant interior design, fine Austrian coffee, and adventurous “climbing walls” for cats.

Canada: Siberian Cat Café
In a tiny town just north of Gatineau, Quebec, a cat café like no other now occupies what was once a soap shop. Home to all Siberian cats, it’s the closest thing to a hypoallergenic cat café you’ll find in the world. Everyone is welcome here, even dog lovers who can bring their canine friends to enjoy the terrace.
Best features: Allergy affected animal lovers can still enjoy the furry company here, and you don’t want to miss the fine artisanal teas on offer.

Thailand: Purr Cat Café Club
Walk too fast and you may miss this whimsical little spot, tucked away on a quiet residential street in bustling Bangkok. In similar fashion to places like Tokyo, Bangkok’s small apartments often don’t allow for cats, so residents come to Purr Cat Café Club to get their feline fix in the heart of the city.
Best features: The club has a shop full of feline outfits and even a cat beautician for its 14 fluffy Persians

England: Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium
There could hardly be a place more regal than Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium in London. This quiet respite of fluffy revelry in Shoreditch is already proving insanely popular though, so it’s best to make a reservation in advance if you want to get a chance to spend time with these pampered felines.
Best features: You can order a properly British afternoon tea here with tiered sandwiches and cakes…what could be more wonderful than that?

A positive trend
According to Scientific American, not only does spending time with our furry friends help reduce stress, but it also seems to help us generate more goals and feel more confident about achieving those goals. As if we needed any more reasons to head out for a cuppa with a cat. We’ll see you there.
